2020 was a challenging year for many organisations, particularly services such as hospitality – including pubs, restaurants and hotels were impacted by the coronavirus, but industries such as information and communication were able to operate from home and saw little change during lockdown.

At the start of the pandemic, some recruitment assignments were put on hold, and candidates felt hesitant to change jobs. It was also a period of transition as workers adapted to working from home. Hiring people went from in person to video interviews and remote onboarding processes were put in place.

Now that lockdown is easing in the UK, we are more optimistic for 2021, as business has picked up across all our divisions. We have seen continued growth in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry across Europe. Another key investment area has been Renewable Energy and Sustainability, where we have seen a push by many to reduce their carbon footprints. Whilst many businesses were cautious during the pandemic a lot of our clients have used this as an opportunity to gain a competitive advantage in the market and invest into new technology and talent. This has been the case for many of our large corporate clients, but in particular we have seen the Private Equity Funds being able to take a real advantage of the climate.
